Some graphs are used to show a change over a time period, to show a comparison, or percentages. The purpose of a graph or chart is to show information in a visual way. It is sometimes better to show data as a graphic, because data can be understood easily in a chart so that you can see the changes or comparisons within the data. For example, if you wanted to show the crime rate rising in numbers, you could put those numbers in a chart. You could also use a pie chart to show to population percentages in different continents.
